How it works

One screen hosts the stage. Everyone else uses a phone to find songs, join the queue and take their turn. Side A is the host’s night; side B is everyone else’s.

Everything a night needs. You probably have it already.

  1. 01A screen with a browserA smart TV, a laptop plugged into the TV, a projector or a tablet.
  2. 02SoundWhatever the screen plays through. TV speakers work; a soundbar is better.
  3. 03PhonesAny phone with a camera and a browser. One each, or pass a few around.
  4. 04An internet connectionThe stage and the phones stay in step over the internet, on Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Still wondering?

Short answers to what hosts ask before the first song.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests scan the QR code on the stage with their phone camera, or type the room code, and the remote opens in the browser.

Do guests need an account?

No. A guest joins with just a name. Signing in is optional and keeps your favorites, song history and your own Stage from one night to the next.

What can I use as the stage?

Any screen with a modern browser: a smart TV, a laptop plugged into a TV, a projector or a tablet. The sound plays through whatever that screen is connected to.

Where do the songs come from?

Search looks through the Karaoke Night catalog first. If a song is not there, guests can search YouTube for a karaoke version and add it to the queue.

How does the queue stay fair?

Every request goes into one shared queue with a per-singer limit, and the stage always shows who is singing and who is next. The host can reorder or remove songs.

Can I keep strangers out of my room?

Yes. The host can require a six-digit PIN, limit the room to phones near the stage, and the QR code on the stage refreshes every few minutes so an old photo of it stops working.

Is it free?

You can start a room for free. Paid plans let more guests join at once and keep a longer party history, and their prices will be shown before you can choose one.
